All you'd want to know about me (and more :-) )
Where I came from
| Well, where do I
start? I came from mainland China. One thing I'm really happy about is that I
can almost always find some sort of kinship with other Chinese people---My Zu3 Ji2
(ancestors' birthplace?) is Shanghai City, whereas on official records it's WuXi City in
ZheJiang. I was born in HengYang, Hunan province and lived for 5 yrs. Then I moved
to Wuhan City and lived for 12 yrs. After a year of military training in XinYang,
Henan Province, I lived in Beijing for 4 yrs to attend the college. And now here I
am, in the 4th yr in University of Iowa, Department of Biochemistry. There were so many people that influenced me, I mean, other than my family. There were my math teacher in elementary school who gave me constant encouragement, my grade director in high school (Hua Shi Yi middle school in Wuhan City) who cared about me so much as to asked several people about my relationship with a girl (Oh, those innocent days! But I always felt grateful to him for his confidence in me), my college literature teacher who rode his bicycles with both hands (and eyes!) on a book, and who couldn't help but give us a beautiful and fitting quote of poems in any situation, my colledge chemistry teacher who always cared about us like to her children, and my college electronics teacher who seemed to know it all & probably does. However, the best thing about college is I found my best friends there. Ever-so-considerate Qianfan, always-on-the-run (:-) ) Jun, warm-hearted Shiyun... all in my biology 90 class in Peking University. |
My interest
| I guess listening to music
and watching movies are my favorte kill-times. As most Chinese do, I also love the
soft rock the best, even though I like some country, R&B, and occsionally I even
indulge myself into heavy metal and grunge. It all depends on my mood. But
isn't that what music is all about? Help you relax, clear up your mind, or maybe
shed off some anger or pain. As to movies, I liked commedy and actions the best (am I too stereotypically a Chinese guy?). I guess I wasn't really picky when I watched the first few hundred movies, then it became harder and harder to find an impressive movie. Now that I think about it, though, I do have some fond memories of all the movies that still ranked top in my mind due to their originality, beautiful simplicity but apparent relentless pursuit of details, or... I still appreciate the touching "Rain Man", the magnificent "Braveheart", the sly "The game", the hilarious "Back to the future I", the tech thrill of "Terminator II", the so-real-but-extremely-romantic "When Harry met Sally", the life-dream-death-fame-life circle so neatly weaved in with love and caring all throughout in the "Forrest Gump", the lost-n-found "The graduate", the bizzarly funny "Airplane!"... There're just too many to enumerate. But where is originality now? From the totally disappointing "Titanic" (I really feel sorry for those critics desperately trying to prove that they still have human feelings but inadvertantly did that by agreeing with teenage girls' views on this huge blockbuster which is nothing more than a bust (believe me, after I myself read this sentence, I'm almost out of breath too :-) ) to the notoriously repetitive plot in Armaggedon; From ... Well, I guess I was carried away a little here. This is to talk about my interest, not my not-interest. Anyway you got the idea. A third hobby of mine is doing some computer programming from time to time. If you're careful enough, you should be able to find some from my page. I hope someday I can really finish making a Chinese calendar. I've postponed it too long already. Badminton is the sport that I like, along with swimming, even though I didn't do it much lately. Isn't everybody so busy though? |

| Well, now that you insist (by reading to here :-) ) my symbol in Chinese zodiac is Ox. My constellation is the Pisces. Blood type is AB (Rh-? Hopefully not). I gotta stop here now, it already starts to sound like a girl's site. |
