You are at the main site for Mingyi's softwares, which includes MCA (web site for MCA), MJ's CD Archiver, a unique donateware written in Java that helps poor kids to get education (and users to organize and search their files :) ; and POD, personal online database (written in C++). Note that I have a couple other script/project available publicly - Two JavaScripts: auto-complete/type-ahead JavaScript (hotscript.com link), HTML table sorting script (hotscript.com link); Based on the latter I released a firefox extension: TableSort, which is later superceded by a more powerful version that allows sort/filter/copy of tables, named TableTools; I also have a sourceforge project that contains some nice Perl parsers I've created for NCBI's Entrez Gene (here's a page describing how they were made). MJ's CD Archiver (MCA) is a data CD/DVD/HD (hard drive) archiver that combines high performance & usability with a simple & intuitive user interface. Using MCA one can archive the data in one's whole CD/DVD/HD collection and search on the file names using DOS-styled wildcards, case-(in)sensitive, whole word (exact) match, and even regular expression for power users, or filter files by options such as file size, modification time, archive time etc. Search results are delivered instantly even if you have hundreds of thousands of files. One can also further filter previous search results and store search results and history. Search results are highlighted to speed up result lookup. Changes/updates to archive can be conveniently performed with the Windows shell integration features. Support is provided to allow user to set up automatic update of any folder/drive in user-designated archive at user-designated time! MCA also works on all major Operating Systems to allow user archive contents of all personal computers, regardless of the OS on them.

MCA is also a special donateware where all proceeds are directly donated to charity, while all developement effort and server maintanence are provided by the software authors. Latest MCA version is V1.0 and supports all major Operation Systems: Windows 98/ME/2000/XP, Linux, Unix flavors (AIX, HP-UX, Solaris etc.) and Mac OS X (currently Windows and Linux OSs are the platforms actively supported and tested upon).

Personal Online Database (POD) program can be used as product catalogue, addressbook, online library or any small online databases. The popularity of POD 4.0 was evident when it was translated into 4 languages by volunteering users, ported onto two major operating systems (Win32/Linux) at user request and downloaded for at least over 10,000 times at dozens of download sites. POD5.0 is yet a big improvement over V4.0 which lacked documentation with POD supporting FreeBSD as well. The functionality and stability of 5.0 were also improved significantly, prompting the users of two of the best scripting sites to rank POD at very high ratings for V5.0 and higher.
DBs powered by POD are currently serving possibly tens of thousands of users. POD is still constantly evolving, mostly at user request.
